Go Pink Wednesday

I'm back again today with my late Go Pink Wednesday post. This is the last installment from this challenge showing support for National Breast Cancer Awareness month which was during October.

For the last day I am giving another go at doing an ombre manicure. The first Go Pink Wednesday, Mandy, from Chameleon Stampede, did a seamless pink ombre manicure that I absolutely loved. Ombre is really big right now and I dig it on nails.

Zoya Sooki ombre
I only used 2 colors for this manicure; ZOYA Sooki and WETnWILD French White Creme. I mixed the red with the white for varying shades.

I had fun doing this challenge. My grandmother died from breast cancer before I was born. It's amazing how much world-wide support there is now to fund research that has saved thousands of lives. There is so much information out there and resources to help empower women to take control of their health and detect any possible problems early. The Susan G. Komen foundation website is a great start for those seeking any information or which to find out how to get involved.

October may be over but as women we should all help spread knowledge and information all year round. Thanks for popping in!

Go Pink Wednesday - Matte Ombre Gradient

Happy Wednesday! October is National Breast Cancer awareness month and to show support I am blogging pink for Go Pink Wednesday. Of course, this is the 4th installment of this so most of you already know. (:

I sort of mushed a bunch of different styles together for this manicure. I have a pink to red ombre sponged gradient style and topped with my BL Matte Top Coat.

I started with CG Go Go Pink as my base color and then sponged on ZOYA Kimber in the middle then ZOYA Sooki on my tips. When my polish was dry I topped it with my Butter London Matte Finish Top Coat.

If you are wondering if there is anything you can do to help raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness then the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure might be just the thing for you. Go Pink Wednesday - Kimber Starburst

Hey guys! It's the third installment of Go Pink Wednesday to show support for National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I was talking with my sister about what I should do and she sent me this link. I went with an all pink starburst pattern using CHINA GLAZE Go Go Pink and ZOYA Kimber.

I haven't done many tape manicures before but it's fairly simple to do. I'm sure with more practice my lines will get more cleaner. Here is a picture of my nails with the tape.

I will definitely do more tape manis in the future.

Go Pink Wednesday - Pink Stripes with Pink Ribbon Accents

Today is another Go Pink Wednesday. Today's design sort of evolved as I was doing it. I originally was going to go with a table cloth sort of striping, but then decided I didn't want horizontal stripes. Then I decided to add the pink ribbon accents. I have lots of pictures so get ready!

pink stripes w/ pink ribbon accents

I'm actually quite pleased with this. :)

Colors used:
   • base color - SALLY HANSEN XTREME WEAR White On
   • stripes - ZOYA Kate
   • pink ribbons - CHINA GLAZE Go Go Pink

I absolutely love ZOYA Kate. It's one of my favorite polishes I own.

I free handed the stripes with an art brush and added the pink ribbon accents with the same brush. I had to do a few coats of Go Go Pink because it's so light to make sure it popped against Kate. I topped it all with Seche Vite.

Don't forget that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Make sure to regularly check yourself and encourage the women in your life to do the same. If you are not sure what to do here is website that may help. Take care because early detection can save your life. SAVE THE TA♥TAS

CHINA GLAZE Flirty Tankini

Hello! I'm back with the swatches of Flirty Tankini. This one is part of CG's Summer Neons Collection. It's a beautiful pink, shimmery, bright (but not in-your-face bright) smooth applying polish. Yes, this one is a keeper. I actually put it on my toes first and I loved it so much I wanted it on my nails too! I don't often match my toes and my nails which brings me to my question of the day; Do you match your mani to your pedi or vise versa? OR do you just change them up as inspiration hits you? Now, on to the polish!

These photos were taken outside in direct sunlight with no top coat.

Flirty Tankini

The shimmer really REALLY brings this polish to life for me. This entire collection was spot-on. I only have 3 polishes from it, but ohmygosh they are all gorgeous. Pink is always such a fun color to wear on my nails. Every woman needs pink in her life.

Thanks for popping in, girls!

Flirty Tankini w/ Gold Half Diamonds

Hello fellow polish fanatics! I hope you are all doing peachy today. I'm about to mow the lawn and then maybe head down to the pool for a bit. I also have a girly chick flick I'm looking forward to watching tonight.

So, I just finished doing my nails and I love them! I used 2 colors, CHINA GLAZE Flirty Tankini and COLOR CLUB Disco Nap. To make the half diamonds, I cut out triangles in some scotch tap and stuck the outlines, not the cut out pieces, on my COMPLETELY DRY base color, Flirty Tankini. Then, I removed the tape right after applying Disco Nap while it was still wet. I topped the whole look off with Julep's Fast Dry Top Coat.

I think the pink and the gold look fantastic together! I think the shine of the gold polish plays well with the shimmer in the pink. I love when I'm proud of my nails!

To keep this post from having an overflow of pictures, I'm going to post the swatches of Flirty Tankini separately. However, I want to do some stuff first so I might have to put it off until tomorrow. I just wanted to share this manicure with you before the plain swatches.

Thanks for popping in!

CHINA GLAZE Innocence

Good afternoon, ladies! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. Guess what movie comes out this weekend?! Magic Mike! I am trying to plan a trip to visit my sister, Jessica, in Maryland so we can see it together.

Today's NotD is CHINA GLAZE Innocence. This was an impulse grab from CG's selection of stock colors at my Sallys. I grabbed it because I have been hankering for one of the OPI Ballet polishes and this looked like the next best thing and was right in front of me. I am super glad I grabbed it, I love this color. I have it on my toes right now too as a base color to a french pedi. My husband came home today and I was trying to show him my freshly painted nails and he just said, "I don't see anything. It looks like your nails." That is what I love about sharing my polish with you girls who can appreciate it!

Ok, enough gabbing. Innocence is a milky pink, very sheer cream that wants to be a jelly. It has a thin formula but yet it applied beautifully. It was very easy to work with and not the least bit of streaking. For a sheer polish that is great! I had a VNL after 2 coats, but because it's a sheer color I don't mind at all. You could layer on some more polish if you wanted a less noticeable VNL I imagine.

I don't know if you can pick up what I meant by wanting to be a jelly in the second photo. It almost to me has a borderline shiny squish to it. I love it. I think Innocence was a great name for it as well. I love the delicateness of a great sheer polish. It makes you look fabulously chic without having to make a statement. Don't get me wrong, I love a good bright color and glitters too! It just depends on my mood. Today I wanted a relaxed look.

What is your favorite sheer polish?

ZOYA Belle

Hello, girls. I hope you are all doing well today. I meant to post this yesterday, but it ended up being a long day! It was my birthday and my husband, father-in-law and I went go-karting, down to the VA Boardwalk and out to an Irish Pub and Restaurant for dinner. It was a great day. I also made them stop at Ulta so I could buy myself some new pretties with some of the money I was gifted. I will get to that in a bit.

Down to the polish of the day. I am finishing off my Zoya Blogger Collection by Birchbox posts today with the last of the trio, Belle. Belle, as describe by Birchbox, is "...a coppery pink which features microscopic bits of iridescent glitter." The copper sheen in this color is fantastic. Indoors it appears to be a predominantly pink shimmer, but in the sun... ohhh in the sun the copper shines through and it's gorgeous. As with the other two from this collection, I have swatches of 1-3 coats and then I also have pictures of it over Kate and Coraline. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that Belle was picked for Capitol Hill Style.

Belle - 3 coats w/ topcoat
Belle - 2 coats no topcoat
Belle - 1 coat no topcoat

Belle over Coraline
Belle over Kate
All of these colors are sheer enough in one coat to be excellent for layering and yet they all still build into juicy, opaque colors. This was an excellent collection and I am so happy I purchased it.

Ok, so I mentioned I bought some polish from Ulta. I printed out two 20% off a single item coupons and my two new beauties are Layla Holos!!! :D I am psyched to wear them. I picked Mermaid Spell and Flash Black. I also grabbed my first EOS lip balm to try since I accidentally put my Nivea Chapstick through the wash. I bought it in Lemon Drop. I am already a fan of it after one day. I love that it has SPF 15 and it feels great on my lips and smells delicious.

Well, I hope I didn't overload you too much with all of these pictures. Thanks for popping in!

ZOYA Kate

Hello, ladies. Yesterday I shared with you the contents of my May Birchbox and my Zoya Blogger Collection by Birchbox. I trimmed down my nails to nubbins and painted on one of the colors from the trio, Kate. Kate is described as a juicy pink grapefruit color and this description couldn't be more accurate. It's a beautiful, squishy color. I had a little trouble capturing the pink in it in my photos, but in person it really has that pinkishness -> this is now a word. I have shots of both 1 coat and 2 coats.

1 coat ZOYA Kate, no top coat - direct sunlight
2coats ZOYA Kate, no top coat - artificial light

2 coats ZOYA Kate w/ topcoat - artificial light

ZOYA Kate

While 1 coat leaves Kate a bit on the sheer side, it's still wearable. 2 coats makes the color pop a bit more and 1 coat leaves it a little more pink. Either way, it's incredibly juicy even without the top coat. I am such a huge fan of jelly polishes.

Go Go Pink

Hello my lovely readers! Sorry there hasn't been a post in a while here, but I just got back from visiting my family up in Michigan. Great time! My parents took my husband and me to the Detroit Auto Show and I got in lots of shopping. The only bummer was the lack of snow! Naturally, the day after we came back to Virginia, they got about 4in of snow. Le sigh.

Today's manicure of choice is China Glaze Go Go Pink. I picked this up at Sally's. It came in a box with Seche Vite Top Coat and a small Angle Charm. China Glaze released this color to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Go Go Pink is a milky light pink. It's a very streaky color, but still a very pretty one. This is 3coats, 2 thin and 1 a bit thicker to even it out at the end. I topped this with my Julep Fast Dry Top Coat.

I hope you all enjoy the last day of the weekend! We are supposed to be having our new King Bed delivered today, but looking at the time I can already guess they will be late! Stop by again (=

JULEP Helena

Hello ladies. My husband picked out today's color. He chose one of my new ones, Julep Helena. This color has so much pigment you could probably get away with 1 coat! It's a very pretty, ultra saturated, fuchsia. Julep says it works with all skin tones. Indoors this color leans more towards a purple, but outdoors it really popped as a bright pink. It applied very smoothly and dried very fast. However, when the color dried it was very flat. There really was no sheen to it at all,  but I would not go so far as to say it was matte. Not even close, just flat. I topped it with my new Julep topcoat which gave it that glossy finish and smoothed out the look. Dry time wasn't too bad either, but it stunk! Take a look at this morphing fuchsia!

See what I meant about looking more purple indoors? I really didn't get a good picture of a true representation of how this color looks in person, but it's lovely. I always find it intriguing just how much lighting changes the look of certain polish colors.

Hope you all have a great night and thanks for stopping by!
