September Birchbox 2012

Hello all. My Birchbox arrived yesterday, woohoo! You all know how I feel about my Birchboxes. It's my monthly gift to myself. (:

This month I received a nail polish. Score! I ♥ boxes with nail polish.

September 2012 Birchbox
Twistband & Color Club polish
COLOR CLUB Put a Pin In It

I really like getting the twistbands in my boxes. I personally think they are overpriced to ever actually buy, so I like getting them as samples ($22 for a 12pack, that's 2 dollars for a small piece of elastic...no thank you!). I have 2 of the ponytail twistbands and 1 headband of the same material. They are comfortable and they don't snag and pull at my hair.

The mini polish from Color Club was a nice treat. As I said, boxes with polish are my favorite. I wasn't too sure about this color in the bottle, but I thought it was surprisingly flattering with my skin tone. I will do a separate post on this foil polish.

The WEI to Go Sleep Over kit is the perfect size to toss in a bag for traveling or to use after a workout at the gym. The full size comes in the same style resealable pack for the moisturizing face tint and a small tube for the gel cleanser.

I struggle with oily, acne prone skin so I love facial cleansing samples. I'm still raving about my Origins Checks and Balances cleanser I got in my January box. The Vasanti sample is an exfoliating cleanser.

I tried out this Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir perfume and I am not a fan. It is not my taste (or I guess my smell).

The Brush Guards are an extra treat as well as the Fall Lookbook. I usually use whatever applicator my makeup comes with because I haven't personally figured out brushes yet. I am sure these are fantastic for keeping your bristles like new. The few brushes I use for my nail art tend to end up with whacky bristles, and this guard would be just the thing to keep your expensive makeup brushes in-tact.

Well, that concludes yet another month of Birchbox. If you're interested in receiving awesome samples like these for only $10 a month delivered right to your door, here is my RAF link.

As always, thanks for popping in!

August Birchbox 2012

Hello, ladies! It's been a while since I posted and I received my Birchbox today which I love to share so let's see if it can help me get back into the groove. Usually I get my box around the 11th so I was happily surprised when I opened my door this morning and saw my box laying propped up against it.

This month's Birchbox's theme is Beauty School.

August 2012 Birchbox

full-size Schick Hydro Silk razor - there were also some coupons attached to the back for Schick razor blades & shave gel
Shu Uemura Hair Oil & Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur perfume
stila waterproof mascara & Talika lash conditioning cleanser
I love everything in this box. I have always been a sucker for trying out new razors. I've used every venus that's been on the market as well as a few skintimate. I am actually totally pysched that there is a Schick razor in my box! Trying it out asap! The fact that it came with coupons was a bonus too.

The Shu Uemura hair oil is another product I cannot wait to use. I received Amika hair oil in my first ever Birchbox and it was a fantastic product. Using just a little in your palm after blow drying helps calm frizz and keep your hair tame. This Essence Absolute Nourishing Protective Oil is labeled as being great for dry hair.

I know I always am less than thrilled with my perfume samples (I'm building up  quite the collection) BUT this month's smells delicious! I really have a thing for Juicy Couture perfume because I got Viva La Juicy in a previous box and they are the only 2 I have used. Viva La Juicy La Fleur is a mixture of sparkling mandarin, wild berries, dewy honeysuckle & soft jasmine.

Okay, so I saved the stila waterproof mascara and Talika oil-free lash conditioning cleanser for last. I actually tried these two out already and have pictures to share.

I used 2 coats of Stila's black waterproof mascara. I actually really liked it. It wasn't clumpy at all and the brush was small and easy to use. I also wanted to try out this lash conditioning cleanser so I removed the mascara with it right away.

You can see in the first photo I didn't have to use much at all. Actually, I could have used less! It worked amazingly well, removing all traces of the waterproof mascara. It did sting my eye though. Right away too, so I had to be careful with it after that. The packet says, "Made from silk proteins and cornflower water, this gel removes mascara effectively and restructures weakened eyelashes."

Great box, dontcha think?! :-) I love my monthly Birchboxes! If you would like to sign up for $10 a month, here is my RAF link. There is a wait list for the boxes, but it's definitely worth it. I don't think I have mentioned this before, but there is always free shipping on the full-size products from your box during the month you receive them.

Thanks for popping in!

July Birchbox 2012

Good morning, ladies. Glad to see you all survived your Friday the 13th! :-P

Today is a Birchbox post, hooray! Usually I receive my Birchbox on the 11th, but this month's only just showed up today. It's a Glamour Box and I love it! There are so many great goodies in it. Ironically, just the other day I was watching a makeup tutorial on how to apply cat eyeliner and was thinking I needed to get some liquid eyeliner. Well, TY Birchbox for supplying me with a full size one! I was also surprised that I got 2 extra goodies in my box for a total of 6 samples! Shall we take a gander at this month's box?

July Glamour Birchbox
Inside the July 2012 Birchbox

Ahava Mud Mask & Alterna Finishing Spray
Tea Forté minteas in Ginger Pear
Harvey Prince "Hello" Perfume
Birchbox Exclusive Earbuds
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Fun box or what. I love facemasks! I gleefully showed/told my husband one came in my box and he says, "Don't you already have one?" Men... I had to inform him I have a CLAY mask not a mud mask. =P

I have never actually worked with liquid eyeliner before, but I am excited to try out my new eyeko liner. The eyeliner has a pen-like applicator and is smudge proof.

The Alterna Finishing Spray helps protect color-treated hair from being damaged and faded by UV rays. I don't personally have color-treated hair at this moment in time, but I do enjoy changing it up once in a while so maybe it will get some use.

The perfume is OK. I already have shared with you all I'm not a big perfume user really. I don't have much to say on it.

As an extra in the box, the earbuds were a cute surprise for sure. I love the coloring. Very girly and very summery. They are a Birchbox exclusive.

Tea Forté's teamints were another extra in the box. They are all-natural, sugar free with organic tea. These ones are in ginger pear. The hubby and I both tried one and weren't too keen on the flavor. The idea of tea infused mints is genius though.

Well, that pretty much wraps up my monthly Birchbox post! If you are interested in joining this great subscription for $10 a month and don't mind the waiting list, you can sign up here.

Thanks for popping by!

June Birchbox 2012

Hello, lovelies. Today is another Birchbox day! I love Birchbox days! My June box has a "Jet Set" traveling theme. I am also very happy to finally receive a BB that does NOT have a perfume sample in it. I was getting a little bit sick of them tbh. Now, onto the goodies:

June 2012 Birchbox

LA Fresh Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover Wipes
Kelly Van Gogh Hair Colour Protecting & Illuminating Tonic
Tili Bag
Clark's Botanicals Lip Tint & theBalm cosmetics lip and cheek stain

I just love those acetone-free wipes. They will be great to throw into my purse when I'm on the go. I also really love the Clark's Botanicals Ultra Rich Lip Tint. It has great, natural ingredients in it like shea butter, aloe, jojoba & coconut oils. It also smells great and has a neutral peachy color. The Stainiac in Beauty Queen by theBalm Cosmetics is a more reddish stain. I didn't like that it made my lips feel numb when I applied it and it also left them sticky for a bit. I do like the coloring it gives, but it had a bit of a splotchy look. I would probably choose to swipe some chapstick over it if I wore it out. The hair mist is a leave-in spray to make your hair shiny while also protecting from heat damage. The plastic bag is a cute nod towards the Jet Set theme as it can be used to store your cosmetics and travel essentials to make your trek through airport security fashionable.

I really liked this box even though it had 2 lip products in it. This works for me because even when I'm not wearing makeup, I'm grabbing something to apply to my lips. Right now my go-to is my lemon eos lip balm.

As always, if you would like to sign up for Birchbox here is a link for you to do so. There is a wait to sign up as BB is first-come, first-serve, but it will be worth the wait to get such great samples delivered to your door for only $10 a month.

Thanks for popping in!

May Birchbox 2012

Good afternoon fellow polish fanatics. Happy Mother's Day to all of you mommy's out there! I do hope you all had a lovely weekend, the husband and I sure did. We stayed home and lazed around and it was much needed! We haven't had a weekend to ourselves in a while and we won't be able to for the rest of the month. We took the dogs jogging and made lots of great meals, including this skillet lasagna I made that was impressively scrumptious. We watched Archer on Netflix, and if you have never seen Archer and you're into funny cartoons I HIGHLY recommend it. I whipped together some homemade waffles for breakfast and I have some honey sesame chicken in the crock pot for dinner. Oh, and my husband made some cookies this morning too! :-)

Ok, ok. I know this isn't a food blog so I will get on with it. The real topic here today is my May Birchbox! It's my little $10 present to myself each month. This month there was a Gossip Girls theme, although...I don't really see how they kept with the theme. Granted, I do not watch Gossip Girls so I suppose I couldn't accurately say... and there I go off on another tangent. Here is my box:

I love when I get nail polish in my Birchbox. The color club shade I got is Disco Nap. I saw that some girls got a Dior Mascara in their boxes too! If you love trying new beauty products, Birchbox is for you! You can't beat $10 delivered right to your door. There is a wait list currently for it, but if you're interested here is my referral link.

On top of my Birchbox this month, I had enough points saved up that I had $20 to use in the shop. I'm sure many of you have already seen the limited edition Zoya Blogger Collection by Birchbox and my sister talked me into purchasing these three delicious jelly lacquers with my points. The trio is $22 exclusively through Birchbox.

From left to right the colors are Coraline, Kate and Belle. Each color was made and named for three bloggers whose mood color boards, inspired by their favorite spring/summer colors, were chosen. Coraline is a jelly tangerine, Kate is a jelly pinkish grapefruit and Belle is a coppery pink with specs of iridescent glitter. These shades are supposed to be great for layering as well as being beautiful on their own. I actually follow Kate's Blog (The Small Things Blog) and I love it. These will be so fun to try out and I have been yearning for some jelly polishes!

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday evening and thanks for popping by!
