ZOYA Zara

Hello, girls. I hope you are all doing well today. It finally cooled off a bit yesterday because we had a lot of rain come through. It's nice to be out of the 100's!

Today I grabbed a purple shimmer from my collection, ZOYA Zara. Zara is a dusty light purple with an amazing golden shimmer throughout it. The formula was easy to work with and dried quickly. I applied 3 coats to see if I could get a bit of a deeper purple, but this one is really just a 2 coater. The 3rd coat didn't add anything except an extra layer of polish. I took my photos in natural sunlight.

This polish makes me think of faeries. Is that weird? The shade of purple with the shimmer all throughout just seems whimsical to me. Actually, I would say that is very appropriate as Zoya describes this polish as having a "magical" feel. Whoever writes their polish descriptions over there is incredibly accurate.

Very Merry Berry

I borrowed today's color from my sister's stash. Very Merry Berry, from the Color Club holiday Scent-suous Collection, is a mix of purplish-pink hexagonal flakes and smaller blue flaky glitter in a clear base. It has a pleasant, if not a bit strong, berry aroma to it. I wonder how long the scent will stay so pungent for. We shall see. So, I got it in my head that I would sponge Very Merry Berry over Julep Anne gradient-style. Fail. Turns out flaky glitter does not sponge the same way sparkle polish does. It all wanted to stick to the sponge and I ended up having to wipe it on my nail. So, one nail in, I just decided to use the brush to apply it. Still, not the best scenario. The flakes all sort of stacked and clumped on the tips. I did my pointer and thumb full nail and that was easier to apply. The flakes are really easy to manipulate around where you want them with the brush. Well, here are the results:

I like these colors together and I dig the big flakes. I'm not completely sold on how it looks with just the tips done. I MUCH prefer the full-nail look with this particular polish. Either way, this is a fun polish and I'm glad my sister loaned it to me. (= See you all next time!

Fresh Coat of Lacquer for the Day

Today I got my nail mail from Nailstash's blog sale! YAY! I recieved confirmation Sunday on my purchase and it came today! Super fast and wrapped with care! I snagged China Glaze Emerald Sparkle and Essie - St. Lucia Lilac. I'm sure you can guess which one this is. :-P

I realize my application was a bit sloppy, but this polish was not the smoothest application for me. I found the formula to be on the rather watery side and it streaked pretty horribly. I LOVE the color though, so I stuck it out. I think it's a beautiful pale purple (lilac) with a great subtle grey undertone. This is 3coats topped with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat. Eventually, I think I might just cave and pick up a Seche Vite top coat!
